Rewiring the Brain After a Concussion: How Neurotherapy Supports Effective Healing

About Me

As a clinician with extensive experience in functional neurology and neurorehabilitation, I specialize in helping individuals recover from brain injuries using evidence-based neurotherapy techniques. My passion lies in supporting the brain’s natural ability to heal through targeted stimulation and customized care strategies.

What Is Neurotherapy?

Concussions, often referred to as mild traumatic brain injuries, can significantly disrupt normal brain function. While symptoms can vary, many individuals experience persistent issues with memory, balance, focus, mood, and sleep. Neurotherapy is a non-invasive, brain-based approach that helps “retrain” the brain by activating specific neural circuits. Through neuroplasticity, the brain’s innate ability to rewire itself, neurotherapy encourages damaged pathways to restore function or find new routes for communication.

How Much Force Can Cause a Concussion?

Interestingly, concussions don’t always require a major blow to the head. Research shows that even a force equivalent to falling off a bike at low speed or a whiplash-type motion in a car accident can cause the brain to shift within the skull, leading to functional injury. The severity of symptoms doesn’t always correlate with the force of impact, making it important to take even mild head trauma seriously.

My Treatment Approach

In my practice, I use a combination of functional neurological exams, sensory-motor stimulation, vestibular and visual-motor training, and neuromodulation techniques like vagus nerve stimulation and photobiomodulation (red light therapy). Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual’s brain function, goals and stage of recovery. My goal is always to help patients feel and function better by restoring balance within the nervous system…safely, effectively and naturally.
